Will it affect Holdingham?: Bowls Club or not?

There seems to be confusion over the plans to put a road link onto Boston Road from Mareham Lane. This appeared in the Sleaford Standard:

I had heard of the Bowls Club option so was somewhat surprised. How did such an error occur?

 Shenanigans all round?

What is Sleaford About? Do we know?

Photo taken 4 years ago before development

You would think that, with all the plans doing the rounds, that there is a tangible economic reason that will benefit the area? Well, in concert with other organisations it would seem that this is not necessarily so!

I picked up this very intellectual argument on Centre For Cities. Its objective (the C for C Organisation I mean)  is to develop and help promulgate ways to revive our Cities. The themes are similar to fast growing areas also such as parts of Lincolnshire.

Fine words but a lack of basics maybe. Cities, Suburban, and Rural Areas for that matter, didn’t get where they are for no particular reason. They grew, with incoming migration, because of the minerals, skills and nature of the land. Maybe those basics haven’t been adhered to in recent years as migration has occured for other reasons

What Centre for Cities is now worried about is that all the power is in London and is lamenting that it ought to be more regionally based. More local control to put it in a nutshell.

So I put in my three pennorth.

In reality the whole system is skewed away from local control. The finance and political power resides in London. Only when local areas develop their own local qualities " industry, products and services" that have international acclaim will it be reversed. Unfortunately for one reason or another energy, manufacturing and other industry (including tourism perhaps) has largely disappeared and gone abroad.

Get that back and we might reverse things.

Ditto Lincolnshire! and Sleaford!

Bikers Riding on Play Areas

I received these messages today. This from the Alert messages.

Over the past few days we have received some reports of vehicle anti social behaviour in Sleaford town.  The first report relates to vehicles congregating at Boston Road car park and causing problems with loud music and inconsiderate driving.

The second report is of a moped riding round the playing field at the rear of Almond Walk, Sleaford.

It would seem that some, or all, of the offenders are teenagers! That is my obseravation and not aprt of this police message.

Holdingham District Council Election Approaches

http://www.sleafordstandard.co.uk/news/local/by-election-for-nkdc-s-sleaford-holdingham-ward-1-5163452

The big news this week is that Peter Haysum has retired as District Councillor for the Holdingham Ward.  Peter has been Mayor of Sleaford three (3) times since 1974 and has had a fantastic career as a local "Politician". He has worked tirelessly for the Town and especially for Holdingham.

It will be interesting to see who the Candidates for the vacant seat are. He will be a hard act to follow.
